Q/A

Can we contact you for groups?

Yes, you can send us an email and we'll discuss your needs, course frequency, or any other request.

What are the class times?

We try to accommodate your needs as much as possible.

As a general rule, classes take place:

Sunday to Thursday from 5pm to 11pm.

Friday and Saturday all day

Certain daytime slots can be arranged at your request, depending on teacher availability.

How long does it take from the moment I contact you to the start of the service?

We are available every day except weekends to answer your questions and organize your lessons. 10 days after signing the training contract and upon receiving a deposit of 30% of the total cost of the course, the course can begin. This 10-day period corresponds to the legal withdrawal period to which you are entitled.

What are your teaching tools?

Our courses are exclusively online and live with a teacher. We currently use the European videoconference platform "JITSI" to deliver our courses. This software enables us to create, share and view content in the same way as a whiteboard, which is essential for quality teaching. We are also sometimes using JITSI as european plateform.

We use well-known course books that have proved their worth in terms of teaching techniques. These courses manuals, available in PDF format, are accompanied by audio and written exercises, which you can practice on your own or with the teacher.

Do you take tests or exams?

Our teachers carry out tests (based on the European CEFR reference framework) before the first lesson, during unannounced training and before the end of the course, in order to assess the trainee's level and adapt to any problems he or she may have encountered during the course.

The initial placement test is carried out before the order is placed, and will enable us to determine the student's initial level.

This test is compulsory to place students in a class so that the level of the latter is homogeneous.

It is also compulsory for private tuition students who want to benefit from a package and obtain a higher CEFR level.

This test is optional for learners wishing to revise particular points such as grammar, reading, writing or any other point and prepare for exams/tests.

Intermediate tests, common to all students, will enable you to find out what you have or haven't learned, and whether or not you need to go back over certain points you haven't assimilated.

The final test will assess the student's knowledge of all the points covered during the course.

The results of these tests are indicators enabling us to assess your progress and the knowledge you have acquired during the course, and in no way confer a recognized official level. For those who would like to obtain a diploma attesting to their level, and have it recognized by companies or the public sector, we can help you take the DCL/LILATE/CIMA with partner organizations.

Can I change my lesson times?

We base our courses on 2 x 2 hours per week to keep them "fresh", so that you can move up a level in less than 6 months.

We are also happy to run courses 3 or even 4 times a week if requested by the group.

Who are the teachers?

Our teachers are native speakers, mostly from Egypt, and are all qualified in teaching Arabic to non-native speakers. They continue to train or have trained French students in political science, international relations, etc...

What are the various technical prerequisites?

We require learners to have a stable internet connection, a computer or tablet, a microphone, a speaker and a camera, so as to be able to follow the courses in good conditions. We ask for a relatively large screen (as opposed to smartphones) so as to be able to properly visualize the written material that teachers are asked to present. For computer users, we strongly recommend that you apply the Arabic alphabet stickers available from certain retailers to your computer keyboard. For tablet users, you can activate the Arabic keyboard in your settings.

What about your method?

Our primary objective at ARSOC is to take you to the next level (based on the CEFR). That's why we offer hourly packages of 60, 70, 80 or even 90 hours. These packages correspond to the number of hours needed for a student to progress from one level to the next.

These hour packages, at +/- 10 hours, represent the average time needed, as observed by our teachers, to move from one level to the next.

Learning time varies from student to student.

For example: 70 hours are needed to go from level A1 to level A2 for Egyptian dialectal Arabic.

Our second objective is to train professionals and prepare them to exchange, read, write and understand Arabic.

Our courses are open to all, although we focus on professionals, whether beginners or not.

We use well-known and recognized dialect and literal Arabic textbooks as the basis for teaching the language. To this we add specific exercises, preparing the student to communicate, read and/or write in his/her field of activity.
