Arabic levels and learning time

The training packages on offer have been designed so that by the end of the course you will be able to demonstrate that you have acquired a European CEFR level, and take part in Arabic language exams.

corresponds to a basic user level (introductory or discovery level).

This means you can :

Understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very simple statements aimed at satisfying concrete needs.
Introduce yourself and others
Be able to ask and answer questions about yourself and others.
Communicate in a simple way if the interlocutor speaks slowly and clearly and is cooperative.

corresponds to an elementary user level (intermediate or common level).

This means you can :

Understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, work).
Communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.
Can describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.

corresponds to an independent user level (threshold level).

This means you can :

Understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc.
Be able to deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the target language is spoken.
be able to produce simple, coherent text on familiar topics and areas of interest
Recount an event, experience or dream, describe a hope or goal, and briefly give reasons or explanations for a project or idea.

corresponds to an independent user level (advanced or independent).

This means that you can :

Understand the main points of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in your field of specialization.
communicate spontaneously and fluently with a native speaker
Express yourself clearly and in detail on a wide range of subjects, give an opinion on a topical issue and explain the pro and cons of different options.

corresponds to an experienced user level (autonomous level).

This means you have the following abilities:

Understand long, demanding texts and grasp implicit meanings.
Express yourself spontaneously and fluently, without having to search too hard for words.
use language flexibly and effectively in social, professional and academic situations
Express yourself on complex subjects in a clear, well-structured way, demonstrating control of the linguistic tools of organization, articulation and cohesion of speech.
